Obituary of John A. MacInnes
MACINNES, John Alexander - 71, New Glasgow, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010, at home. Jackie was born in Inverness on June 2, 1939. He was predeceased by his parents, Charlotte (Rankin), Donald Angus and stepmother, Mary (MacMaster) of Creignish, Inverness County, Cape Breton.
Jackie graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science in 1960; received his Pharmacy Clerkship from the Maritime College of Pharmacy in 1963; and his Masters in Social Work from the Nova Scotia School of Social Work in 1968. He retired from the Nova Scotia Department of Social Services in 1994 to enjoy his winters in Florida and summers in Nova Scotia.
He is survived by his sister, Ann Marie Bhatia, nephews Paul and Josh (Amy) Bhatia and grand-nephew Liam Bhatia, all of San Antonio, Texas; numerous cousins as well as his beloved dog, Dudley.

Cremation has taken place under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), there will be no visitation upon request, and flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Jackie's memory to a charity of choice. There will be a Saturday Mass, in Jackie MacInnes' memory on September 25th, 2010, at Stella Maris Parish, Creignish, officiated by Father Hughie MacDonald,. A private funeral mass and burial will take place at a later date at Stella Maris Parish Cemtery, Creignish, Inverness County, Nova Scotia.
