Obituary of William James "Bill" Watson
WATSON, William James “Bill” – 85, Halifax, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, September 24, 2010. Born in Scotland, he was a son of the late William and Isabella (Hopkins) Watson.
Bill was a volenteer at Arbourstone Enhanced Care for 10 years. Bill was the most wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather.
He will lovingly be remembered and never forgotten by his wife of 57 years, Audrey; sons, William (Susan), Ottawa, Robert (Dee) and Douglas, both of Halifax; daughters, Ann Pritchard, Spryfield, Helen (Don) Caswell, Lower Sackville and Amanda, Ottawa; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and counting; many foster children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Leslie, Dartmouth; sister, Mary (Wendel) Nicholson, PEI; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Graham; brothers, Sandy, Robert, Arthur, Claude and Grover and Roddie; sister, Katherine.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., (477-5601). In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, September 28 at 11 AM in the Salvation Army Spryfield Community Church, 328 Herring Cove Road, with a reception to follow. Interment will be held in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Association or the Salvation Army.
