Obituary of Jean Blanchard

BLANCHARD, Jean Rita (Giles) … 95, passed away at Parkstone Enhanced Care Nursing Home on Tuesday, October 12th, 2010. Born in Halifax on October 4th, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Melrose Giles. She is survived by her son Brian (Betsy) of Herring Cove, two grandsons, Kirk (Tanya) and Mark (Tracy), two great granddaughters, Kate and Ava, brothers Fred, Lower Sackville and Keith, Cape Breton. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur, sisters Edith, Jessie, Nettie and Pearl, brothers John, Bert and Ron. Jean and her husband Art ran a small grocery store in Spryfield in the 50's and 60's. Jean was a longtime member of the Northwood Players Club and Fun Band. Jean loved to dance and embraced life. Her body has been cremated. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Rd. on Friday, October 15th at 10 am, Rev. Reid MacLean officiating. Private interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
