Obituary of Rita Ella Comeau

90, Halifax, passed away on November 16, 2010 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Bay L’Argent, NL., she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Emma (Thornhill) Grandy. She was married in August 1947 to Mederic Comeau. In the past, she was involved in a bowling league and enjoyed it very much. She also enjoyed car rides, gardening, and travelling. Rita cared deeply for her family and she will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Rita is survived by her husband of 63 years, Mederic Comeau, daughter; Lynette (Alain) Dupuis, Dartmouth, brother; Reginald Grandy (Betty), St. John’s, NL, sisters; Annie Parker, Lila Grandy, both of St. John’s, NL., sister-in-law; Alma Grandy, Fortune Bay, NL.,grandchildren; Eric Dupuis and Brian ( Trina Sutherland) Dupuis, great grandson Noah Dupuis. Rita was predeceased by brothers; Harold and Earl Grandy, sisters, Olive Grandy and Janet Grandy in infancy. Arrangements are under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., (477-5601) 149 Herring Cove Rd., where visitation will be held on Thursday November 18 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. Funeral Mass will take place Friday November 19 at 10:30 a.m. from Saint Benedict Parish, corner of Radcliffe Dr. and Dunbrack St., reception to follow in the church hall. Interment to take place in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rita’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia .
