Obituary of Russell R. Baker
BAKER, Russell Ray – 77, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Arborstone Enhanced Care, surrounded by his family. Born on January 17, 1933 in Chester, he was a son of the late Randall and Iona (Wilson) Baker.
Russell retired from the Herald and Mail and was the proud owner of Video Picture Showman.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Patricia “Pat” (Carrigan); children, Debbie (Corne Verstraten); Sharon (Donnie Royale); Walter (Chantal); Cathy (Kenny Allen); Ray (Shelley); Charlene Campbell (Josh); Darlene (Brad Hartlen); grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Todd, Troy, Mark, Brian, Marcel, Bradley, Courtney, Heather, Shawna, Nicole, Ryan, Logan, Rachel, Emily, Jacob and Nathan. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters. He was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Arborstone Enhanced Care Center for their compassionate care and support.
Arrangements are under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Sunday, November 28 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 29 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel, Rev Wayne Hartlen officiating. A reception will follow the service; private family interment. Family flowers only, donations in Russell’s memory may be made to the Golden Age Center, 212 Herring Cove Road (477-0837) or to the charity of one’s choice.
