Obituary of Dorothy B. "Noonie" Payne
PAYNE, Dorothy Bliss, “Noonie”, UE … Halifax, passed away at Glades Lodge on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in her 90th year. Born in New York City, December 2, 1921, she was predeceased by her beloved mother Eleanor Bliss Winearls (MacDonald), father William Newman Chew, and beloved stepfather Herbert Aylmer Winearls.
Noonie was a keen genealogist and was delighted when she connected her mother and father’s Robinson ancestors five generations back.
She leaves her daughter Katharine Sharon Chaytor Baillie and Richard’s three children Laura, Aaron and Holly Payne. She was predeceased by her daughter Suzanne Elizabeth Payne and her son Richard Beverley Payne. Also survived by her sister, Joan Winearls and many cousins including, Kathleen MacDonald, Kingston; Sally MacDonald Thompson, Parksville, B.C.; Elizabeth MacDonald McKercher; Thomas MacDonald and Frances McNeil, all of Vancouver; Ann McNeil North, Sylvia Cameron Balogh and Joyce Cameron Tipping, all of Victoria; Hugh Cameron, Guelph; fondly remembered by her overseas cousins, Christopher Winearls, Oxford; Nicholas Winearls, Monaco; Harold Winearls, Capetown.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A service of committal and interment will take place on Wednesday, December 29th at 2 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. Friends are welcome to meet at the Cemetery Office, just beyond the east gate of the cemetery off Mt. Pleasant Road, north of St. Clair Avenue.
