Obituary of Anne Marie Grattan
Grattan, Anne Marie: 68, Halifax, loving wife of Victor Grattan, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the New Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, NS. Anne was born in Halifax, the daughter of the late James O’Donnell and Kathleen (nee Goudreault) (O’Donnell) Redmond. Anne was a very special lady who loved her family dearly. Anne had worked for 29 dedicated years at Maritime Medical, from where she retired. She was an avid volunteer with the Lions Club. Anne loved children and was always more than willing to help anyone in need. Anne will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Victor, two daughters, Rosanne “Randy” McSweeney (Alan Daniels), Terence Bay, and Michelle “Shelly” Uwins, Hubbards, step-daughters, Sharon Murphy (Patrick), Jeddore, NS, and Janet Grattan (Glenn), Dartmouth, her brothers, Jim (May), Gordon (Joan), Alfie, and Artie (Jean), all of the Halifax area, eight grandchildren, and her special dog, Shannon. Anne was predeceased by her first husband, Cyril Joseph McSweeney, son, Cyril James “CJ” McSweeney, brother, Frank O’Donnell, and step-father, Ralph Redmond.
Cremation has taken place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (902.477.5601). A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 10 AM from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 2267 Brunswick Street, Halifax, NS, with Fr. Jean-Marc Laporte as celebrant. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, NS. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anne may be made to St. Patrick’s Church Restoration Fund.
