Obituary of Ronald E. Salter
SALTER, Ronald Edward – 71, Spryfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2011 in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Halifax on May 16, 1939, he was a son of the late William and Johanna (Smith) Salter.
Ron was a lifelong member of the Legion Branch 152. He volunteered for many non profit organizations and was an avid bingo and crib player.
He will lovingly be remembered and never forgotten by his, companion, Marilyn Goucher; sons, Joseph (Diane Billard) and David (Jennifer) Salter; daughter, Johanna; stepson, William Goucher; step daughters, Deborah (Danny) Mailman and Linda (Darrell) Colp; 6 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren and 1 step great-granddaughter; brother, Dennis, Sackville; sisters, Marjorie, Sackville, Irene, Halifax, Elizabeth “Betty”, Washington, D.C.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Anthony “Tony”; brother, William; sisters, Lillian Westlake and Vivian Peacock.

Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9 from 12 – 2 PM, with a service of remembrance to follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 PM. A reception will follow the service at the Spryfield Legion. Donations in Ron’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s United Church Food Bank.
