Obituary of Alonzo LeRoy Wilson
85, Halifax, Formerly of Prospect, passed away February 6, 2011 in the Veteran Memorial Building. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Robert and Laura (Worth) Wilson. Alonzo served in WWII overseas from 1939-45 in the Merchant Navy. After the war he worked for the dockyard until his retirement. He is survived by sons; Alonzo “Lonnie”, Bruce both of Halifax; daughter Mary Ann Conrad (Curtis), Pugwash; brother; Horace “Hoss”, Halifax; sister Rita Livingstone, Kelowna, BC.; granddaughter Kimberley Wilson; great grandson Devin; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Lillian (Mason) Wilson; sisters; Dorothy, Marjorie, Gladys, Eva; grandson Paul Wilson-Murphy; great grandson Kyle. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. today February 9 with funeral service to be 1 p.m. Thursday February 10, all in the J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601) 149 Herring Cove Rd. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or charity of ones choice. Interment to take place in St. Timothy’s Anglican Cemetery, Prospect.
