Obituary of Clifford J. LeFort

LEFORT, Clifford Joseph … 69, Harrietsfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in the VG Palliative Care. Born in Cheticamp, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie (Aucoin) LeFort. Clifford was a hard worker with a strong work ethic and applied this as a ceramic tile setter for many years. He was an avid hockey fan and cribbage player having been part of a crib league. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. The family was blessed to have had extended time with him, something for which they will be forever grateful. He will lovingly be remembered and never forgotten by his wife and best friend of 44 years, Dorothy; sons, Wayne (Candace), Michael (Kim) and Stephen (Angela); daughters, Nicole (Shawn) Kersey and Tania LeFort (Shawn MacEachern), all of Halifax; 10 grandchildren, Julia, Josh, Brianna, Patrick, Noah, Austin, Lindin, twins Aidan and Brooklyn, Grace, and another on the way; brother, Yvon (Dolly), Halifax; sisters, Marie-Alice (George) Levy, Halifax; Rose-Helene (Wayne) McKay, Deer Lake, NF; Luce Yvonne LeBlanc, Halifax; special nephew, Gary (Tina) Evans, Bolton, ON, as well as several nieces, nephews and his extended family of brothers and sisters in-law. He was predeceased by brother, Raymond; sister, Eileen Hynes. The family extends special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit, VG 7A staff, especially Mary Osmond for their compassionate care and support; also, to Dr. Trudy Taylor for her special assistance in a very difficult time. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Friday, March 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 1 PM in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Spryfield, Fr. Frank Pelerine as celebrant. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clifford’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the VG 7A Palliative Care Unit.
