Obituary of Donald Kenneth Marriott
Marriott, Donald Kenneth: 85, Spryfield, loving husband of the late Alice Marriott (Stuart), passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the QEII, New Halifax Infirmary. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Edward and Clara (Wilson) Marriott. Throughout his career, Don had been a dedicated firefighter for 21 years with the Halifax Fire Department, also having serving as a volunteer firefighter for 7 years. He also worked with Hoyts Moving and Storage. Don was then a loyal School Cross Walk Guard for 5 years. He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his son. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Heather), Shubenacadie, Lorne (Donna), Laurie, and Kevin (Peggy), all of Halifax, his daughter, Patsy Richardson (Dennis), Halifax, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sisters, Gladys Merlin, Ajax, ON, and Joyce Lane, Halifax, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Alice, his parents, a son, Donald R.B. Marriott, two infant daughters, sister, Patricia Crookshanks, and twin brothers, Stan and Ernie Marriott.Cremation has taken place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 11 AM, with Rev. Dianna Brett-Frye as clergy.
