Obituary of Clarence Kenneth Junior Riley

82, Halifax, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2011, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, with his daughter Debbie by his side. Born in Halifax on April 4, 1929, he was a son of the late Clarence Sr. and Hazel (Westhaver) Riley. Clarence was retired from Ben’s Limited after 25 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sylvia (Morse); children Darryl, Halifax; Dianne Emmett, Victoria, BC.; Dawne Dartt (Raymond), Hammonds Plains; Debbie (Danny Evans), Halifax; brothers; Harold, Carmen, Wayne; sisters; Dorothy Miles, Frances Hannay; grandchildren; Richard, Robert and Charmaine Emmett, Cory, Sheena and Justin Riley; Jennifer, Jeffery and Michael Dartt, Sarah Evans; and several great grandchildren. Clarence was predeceased by two children in infancy and a sister Shirley Birt. Cremation has taken place under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. (477-5601) where visitation will be held Wednesday August 31 from 1-2 p.m., followed by funeral service in the chapel at 2p.m. and a reception. Family greatly appreciates any donations in memory of Clarence’s name to be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation. Special thanks to the staff of 8.2 and 8.4 of the Halifax Infirmary for their exceptional and compassionate care given to Clarence/Dad while he was a patient, to Dr. Hugh Matheson for his many house calls and wonderful care over the years, and a special thank you to Donald Cameron of J.A. Walker Funeral Home for going over and above the call of duty. Clarence/Dad will be missed for his witty sense of humor, sleep peacefully until we meet again.
