Obituary of Douglas Harry Williams
54, Halifax. July 25, 1956 â July 2, 2011. Doug was born in Spryfield at home and passed away at home surrounded by his family and friends. He was a son of Pearl (Smith) Williams of Necum Teuch, and the late Harry Williams. Doug was a pipe fitter by trade and worked all across Canada. He loved life, family gatherings, wrestling, western movies and impromptu day trips with his best friend Janice. His great love was Coronation Street, which he watched faithfully up until his death. He will lovingly be remembered and never forgotten by brothers, Philip, Timothy (Sharon) and Roger (Dawn), all of Spryfield; sister, Diana, Necum Teuch; nieces, Heather, Tiffany and Leslie; great-niece, Cadence, all of Halifax; many friends and relatives. Special thanks to the staff of 8.4 at the Halifax Infirmary and the nurses that were with him at home and took special care of him. An extra special thanks to Joan Rowe of WCB whose dedication to Dougâs care ensured that his wish to come home was granted. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601). In keeping with Dougâs wishes there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 6 at 11 AM from the funeral home chapel. Family flowers only, donations may be made to The Arthritis Society or Canadian Cancer Society.
