GRAY, Edwin Francis (Gomer)—69, of West Pennant, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He retired after 33 years of service with D.O.T. (Materials Lab); and drove a school bus for Stock. He loved to go sword fishing, trout fishing, hunting and camping, but his biggest sport of all was “BINGO.” The eldest son of the late Charles A. and Annie (Gilfoy) Gray, he is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Gladys (Hart) Gray; son, Richard (Charlene); daughter, Evelyn; grandchildren, Dale, Cody and Candace; son-in-law, Doug; brothers, Charlie (Debbie), Roy (Christine); sisters, Sylvia (Winston), Patricia (Paul), Helen (Maynard), Anna (Lloyd), Rhonda (Gordon), half-sister, Beverley (Bob); nephew/buddy, Jason (Rosemarie); godchild/niece, Dorothy (David); along with many more nieces and nephews; and his side-kick, Rex. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd, Halifax, NS (477-5601) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Ketch Harbour.. Father Zachory Romanowsky as celebrant. Interment to follow with family and relatives at the cemetery in Sambro. A reception to follow, back at St. Peter’s Church Hall – all are welcome.In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edwin may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Ketch Harbour.
