Obituary of Wendell Vernon Webster

85, Herring Cove, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Albert and Clara (McNaught) Webster. Wendell retired from the dockyard after a long career with DND. Music was his passion and he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean (McPherson), Herring Cove; his children, Clara (Sam), Morden; Debbie (Eric), Halifax; Michael (Pat), Halifax; Wendy, Middleton; Judy (Dave), Halifax; Cheryl (John), Kingston; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Francis and brother, Bert, both of Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by brother, Laurie. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Friday, June 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 18 at 2 PM from the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow. Interment will be held at a later date. Family flowers only, donations in Wendell’s memory may be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
