Obituary of Harold Everett Murray Smith

71, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2011 in the QEII Health Sciences Center. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Hiram and Nellie Smith. Harold was an auto body mechanic for most of his adult life, something he thoroughly enjoyed. In his spare time he volunteered at the hospital and other various groups and organizations. He had a host of friends and was a dear friend to many. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his brother, Howie (Edith), Lower Sackville; sisters, Phyllis Gardiner, Halifax; Elaine (Gary) Myers, Harrietsfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence, Billy and Maurice Smith. Special thanks to Harold’s special friends, Hon. John M. Buchanan and Brian Dempsey, for their care and support. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. In keeping with Harold’s wishes there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 16 at 10 AM from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church with a reception to follow in the church hall; interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
