Obituary of Grant Wendell Sonny McDonald

McDonald, Grant Wendell Sonny" - 81" Sherbrooke NS passed away peacefully at home on June 102011 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Grant and Muriel (MacPhee) MacDonald. He worked as a draftsman for the N.S. Department of Mines and Energy in Halifax for 34 years. On August 1 1964 he married his true love Barbara with whom he had two children. His daughter and son were the pride of his life and he loved them dearly. Over many years diabetes took a great toll on Grant's body yet he never complained or felt sorry for himself. Instead he faced each new health challenge with dignity and strength. He will be remembered as a gentleman with a wry sense of humor and a seemingly inexhaustible supply of jokes. He enjoyed spending time at the family camp in Sherbrooke fishing and photography. Grant is survived by his wife Barbara (MacDonald) daughter Laurel son Glenn (Jennifer) grandsons Sean and Owen cousin Harold (Gretha) MacPhee and special family friend Ruth. Cremation has taken place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Road Halifax NS (477-5601).where visitation will be held on Wednesday06/15/11 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Calvin Presbyterian Church Halifax.
