Obituary of Wallace Newman Rose
81, Whites Lake, NS. Passed away peacefully at the QEII on May 24, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 21, 1929 in Hermitage, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late James and Martha (Francis) Rose. Wallace was a longshoreman for 28 years, a carpenter, a member of the Royal Standard #398, and worthy patron of Eastern Star #58. He loved to hunt and fish, and have a dance at the seniors dances. Wallace is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Violet (Mitchell Coish), sister, Mary Hynes, brother, Cyril Rose, sons, Walter (Shirlene), Cyril (Sheila), James (Geraldine), David, and Perry, daughters, Cora Herrick (Bucky), Marie Morris (Phillip), Maryann Robinson (Darrell), Grace Dempsey (Jim), and Darlene Williams (Kevin), step-son, Burton Mitchell (Dianne), step-daughters, Marion Smith (Doug), and Dorothy MacDonald (George), 29 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. Wallace was predeceased by his first wife, Mary, infant daughter, son, Michael, step-son, Joey Mitchell (Judy), sisters, Doris, Triffie, and brothers, Leonard and Eric.
Arrangements are under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1:30 PM from Emmanuel Anglican Church, Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS, with Rev. Dianna Brett-Frye as clergy. Interment will take place in Emmanuel Anglican Church Cemetery. Donations in memory of Wallace may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
