Obituary of Sharon Ann Bowers

BOWERS, Sharon Ann – 62, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2011 in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Marjorie (Morton) Godfrey. Sharon was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by husband and best friend, Cecil; sons, Timothy and Eric (Tina), Halifax; daughter, Juanita, Dartmouth; daughter in-law, Anita; her grandchildren, for whom she devoted her life, Kayla, Robyn, Eric, Taylor, Brooke, Abby and Tyrisha; great-grandson, Javon; and a mother figure and great friend to many more; brothers, Harold (Sherry), Brian (Debbie) and Percy (Wendy); sisters, Muriel (Dorian) Lalonde, Mary Ireland and Diane (Mark) McGowan; brothers in-law, Russell Smythe, Kevin (Maureen) and Wardie; sisters in-law, Sissy (Dave), Dana, Eileen, Debbie (Scott), Bonnie (Al) and Valerie Bowers; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Anna “Cal” Smythe; nephew, Eric Gobeil; mother in-law, Ethel; brothers in-law, Charles and Joseph Bowers, Robert Ireland. Special thanks to the staff of the VG site 5A Palliative Care, for their compassionate care and support. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601). By request, there will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, April 11 at 10:30 AM from the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow at the Spryfield Lions Den. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sharon’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
