Obituary of Garnet Laurence Drysdale
DRYSDALE, Garnet Laurence – 60, Halifax, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at the QEII, VG Site Palliative Care, after a two year battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Marion (Brown) Drysdale and the late Benjamin Drysdale.
Garnet was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He cherished his grandchildren, Tyler, Katie and Bailey and thoroughly enjoyed watching them play soccer. He was also an avid Mooseheads fan.
Garnet will lovingly be remembered and never forgotten by his wife of 40 years, Diana (Hynes); children, Greg (Nicole) and Gail (Mike), all of Halifax; brother, Gary (Ev), Halifax; sisters, Margie (Gary), Ontario and Gail (Trevor), Alberta; many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the VG Site 7A palliative care, for their compassionate care and support.
Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601). In keeping with Garnets wishes, there will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, January 12 at 3 PM from the funeral home chapel, Rev. Keltie van Binsbergen officiating. A reception will follow the service. Family flowers only. Donations in Garnets memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
