Obituary of Margaret Mary Catherine Hollahan
Hollahan, (Hounsell) Margaret Mary Catherine – 97, passed away peacefully February 26 at the St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax. Born March 25, 1914 in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Catherine (Romo) and Emanuel Hounsell, she is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Margaret was a resident of Spryfield for most of her life before moving into St. Vincent Nursing Home where she was very happy to be living and enjoyed the daily activities that she took part in, she was a lifetime parishioner of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church. Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother. She will lovingly be remembered and never forgotten by her sons; Michael (Sheila) Aldersville, David (Linda) Port Coquitlam, BC, grandson, James, granddaughter Sarah (Chris) Hollahan and great grandson Mason, as well as many nephews and nieces with whom she had a very close bond. She was predeceased by her loving husband James, special son Dennis, half sister Verna (Webb) Devlin and brothers, Charles, Joseph and John. A special thank you to the staff of the 4th floor in St. Vincent’s Nursing Home for their care and compassion to Margaret. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 29th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Spryfield, NS on Thursday, March 1, 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, NS, a reception to follow in the family home. Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the St. Vincent’s Nursing Home or The Heart and Stoke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
