Obituary of William "Bill" Robert Strong

STRONG, William Robert "Bill" – 79, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the QEII Health Sciences Center. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Howard and Edna (Forrest) Strong. Bill retired at the age of 62 after many years at the Halifax Dockyard having worked as a fully qualified electrician. He loved many different sports and was an avid Mooseheads fan. He also loved his bowling and was very good in many leagues he played in over the years. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Mary; sons, Stephen and Billy; daughters, Paula Den Otter, Nancy Carriere and Lisa Gallant; grandchildren, Kelly, Tasha, Justin, Danielle, Trevor, Lindsay, Christian, Michelle and David; great-grandchildren, Megan and Andrew; sisters, Jean Nagle and Ruth Fader. He was predeceased by sister, Irene McGrattan, Viola Richardson and Margaret Deacon. A very special thank you to Dr. Crowell, all of the staff at the QEII and to Ray Hennebury for his great work ethic and positive attitude. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Thursday, April 12 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 13 at 1PM from the funeral home chapel, Rev. Diana Frye officiating; reception to follow. Interment will take place in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
