Obituary of Maureen Richards

  Richards, Maureen Gail- 71, Halifax, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the New Halifax Infirmary Site. Born in Ottawa, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Laura (Curran) Rock. Maureen was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy for 3 ½ years, for 23 years she worked at Sears where she was a buyer. Maureen will be lovingly missed by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert; daughter, Catherine Richards, Halifax; sister, Patricia (Bruce) Tenny, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, grandson, Donald, Halifax, Aunt Eileen LaTrallie, numerous brother and sister in laws. She was predeceased by both parents and step father, William Curran.  Special thank you to her long time caregivers, Marlene and Joan for their compassionate care and support.Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will be held on   Tuesday, May 1 from 6-8 p.m. Service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, May 2 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow. Interment to take place at a later date in Ottawa, Ontario. Family flower only. Donations in Maureen’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation Nova Scotia.
