Obituary of Neville Gordon Kenneth King
KING, Neville Gordon Kenneth – 73, Herring Cove, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the VG Site, QEII. Born in Redding, England, he was the son of the late Gordon and Winifred (Bourne) King.
Neville worked for over 32 years Canadian National Railway as a Pier Foreman at the Halifax Waterfront. He was president of the CBRT & GW Union. He loved to travel, was an avid hunter and he enjoyed golfing regularly at the Ashburn Golf Club, of which he was a member. Neville was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by sons, Ronnie, Spryfield; Arthur"Jamie" (Julie), Herring Cove; Jonathan (Heather), Ketch Harbour; daughters, Wendy Martin (Philip Casey), Herring Cove; Kathy King, Halifax; son in-law, David Martin; daughter in-law, Tracey Hardiman; grandchildren, Corey Hardiman, Michelle Martin, Melanie King, Trevor King, Lucas Berrigan – King; brothers, Peter (Marie) Whitehead, Portuguese Cove; William "Billy" (Darlene) Whitehead, Harrietsfield. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy and his step-father, Jim Whitehead.
Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 31 at 10 AM from the funeral home chapel; with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Neville’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
