Obituary of Jack Smith

Smith, Jack Edward: 89, Halifax, passed away July 25, 2012 at the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax, NS.  Born in Nictaux Falls, Annapolis Valley, NS, he was the son of the late Donald Smith and Jean Stillman.  A Veteran of World War II, he will be remembered for his many war stories, as well as his quick humour.  He is survived by his daughters, Jean Goyetche, Halifax, and Leslie (Sandy) Snide, Halifax.  He was lovingly known as "Opa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Shelly Skerry (Tony), Halifax, Ian Goyetche (Melanie), Sackville, Christopher Snide (Elizabeth), Hammonds Plains, and Jeffrey Snide, Calgary, and great-grandchildren, Mason, Evan, Kaden, William and Paige.  He was predeceased by his wife, Petronella.  The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to 4.2, NHI, for their excellent care.   At Jack’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  Internment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of one’s choice.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting www.walkerfh.com   "Two angels now fly together, to watch over us with love, while we carry them forever in our hearts"
