Obituary of Perry Lionel Hamm
HAMM, Perry Lionel – 54, Bridgewater, formerly of Sambro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 surrounded by family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Lionel and Louisa (Spiers) Hamm. Perry worked for LRIS / Service Nova Scotia for 30 plus years until his retirement. After he retired he worked at Canadian Tire Garden Center in Bridgewater, until his illness. He fought his illness with great courage, dignity and humour. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan who enjoyed gardening. His favourite hockey team was the Montreal Canadiens and his cherished treasures were his three girls. He will lovingly be remembered and never forgotten by his wife of 29 years, Wanda (Brewer); daughters, Olivia, Melanie and Gina; siblings, Yvonne (Vance), Carla (Ernie), Loraine (Larry "Bubbie"), Jackie (Dave), Michael and Joanne (Bob); mother in-law, Stella Brewer; several nieces and great nieces, nephews and great nephews. He was predeceased by father in-law, Douglas Brewer.
Arrangements are under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601). In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A celebration of Perry’s life will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 11AM from the funeral home chapel with a reception to follow; private family interment in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Perry’s memory may be made to the Canadian Tire Jump Start Program, c/o Jody O’Donnell, General Manager, Canadian Tire, 16 Pine Grove Road, Bridgewater, NS B4V 4H5; a charity helping less fortunate children with sporting equipment.
