Obituary of Alfred "Alfie" William O'Donnell

O’DONNELL, Alfred "Alfie" William – 75, Halifax, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 7, 2012 at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James O’Donnell and Kathleen (Gouldreault) Redmond. Alfie worked for Farmers Dairy for over 30 years. He spent his retirement years socializing with friends both new and old. He was a member of numerous social clubs, who will be dearly missed be all who knew and loved him. Alfie is survived by nieces, Rosanne "Randy" McSweeney (Alan Daniels), Terence Bay, and Michelle "Shelly" Uwins, Head of St. Margaret’s Bay; brothers, Jim (May), Gordon (Joan), Artie (Jean), all of the Halifax area. He was predeceased by step-father, Ralph Redmond; brother, Frank O’Donnell; sister, Anne Grattan; nephew, Cyril "CJ" McSweeney. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 14 at 10 AM from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Donations in Alfie’s memory may be made to the St. Patrick’s Church Restoration Fund.
