Obituary of Ronald Phillip Flinn
FLINN, Ronald Phillip - 76, Prospect Bay, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, surrounded by family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Harold and Agnes (Gillis) Flinn.
After retiring from a career in banking Ron enjoyed twenty years of doing the things he loved - spending time with family and friends, enjoying good food, and weekly stints volunteering with the Thursday morning crew at the food bank. His favorite pastimes were enjoying his grandchildren's sporting activities, golfing, and watching the Maple Leafs lose on Saturday night. He was a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ron was blessed during his life to have fallen in love twice. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann (Christenson) and is survived by wife, Lynne (Donahoe). He will be remembered lovingly by his children, Deborah Frail (Derek), Ian (Agnes), and Scott (Paulette); grandchildren, Todd, Nathan, Brandon, Ryan, and Emily; and great-grandchildren Skye and Nevaeh; sisters, Carole Daniel, Donna Roach (Ronald); brothers, David (Elizabeth) and Errol. Ron was grateful for the love shared by his additional family members especially Moira, Jonathan, Isobel and Boyd.
Arrangements are under the direction of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. Halifax (477-5601). A funeral Mass for Ron will be held on Monday, September 17 at 11am from Canadian Martyrs Parish 5900 Inglis St. Halifax, Rev. Mark Cherry and Rev. Owen Connolly concelebrating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to Feed Nova Scotia or to a charity of the donor's choice.
