Obituary of John Patrick Hammond

68, passed away, with his close friends by his side on October 24, 2012, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late John and Bridget (O’Neill) Hammond. John had worked with Eagle Security at the old Halifax Infirmary for many years and later, recently with Securitas Canada at the Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority (APSEA). He was a past 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his close friends Joe and Anne McDonald and family. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601). A time of remembrance will be held on Sunday November 4 from 3-5 p.m. at John’s home, 18 Kate Court Halifax. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 7 at 10a.m. from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Michael’s Ave. Halifax. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. His friends would like to extend a thank you to the doctors and nursing staff of 5.2 and 8.2 of the Halifax Infirmary for the care and compassion given to John during his brief stay.
