Obituary of George Melvin Tipping
67, Prospect, passed away suddenly Saturday December 29 2012 at the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Born in Yarmouth, NS, he was raised by the late Lester and Gertrude (Crowell) Forbes of Seabright, NS. George was retired from Atlantic Wholesalers after 27 years of service and also worked for IMP. George was an avid card player and a true environmentalist who loved to hunt and fish in his youth and especially enjoyed his recent time spent fishing with his granddaughters. He was well-known and appreciated in the community as someone who could be depended upon for unquestioned help and service, his handyman advice and skills, his unrelenting work ethic, and quick humor. He is already missed. George is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Hope (Scott), Prospect Bay; his son, Grover Tipping (Pam), Halifax; his daughter, Irene MacDonald (Joe), Barbados; his beloved granddaughters, Amelia and Arianna MacDonald; four brothers, David Tipping (Sharon), Halifax; Donald Tipping, (Michelle) Orangeville, Ont; Glenn Crocker, (Nancy) Edmonton, Alta; George Crocker, Brampton, Ont; five sisters, Mary Ann Seal, (Ted), Yarmouth, NS; Freda Joyce (Roy), Strathroy, Ont; Cynthia Ferguson, (Al) Whitby, Ont; Sherry Crocker, Brampton, Ont; and Lori Crocker, St. Catherines, Ont. George was predeceased by his father, Roy M. Tipping, Galt, Ont and his mother, Alfreda (Blades) Crocker, Port Burwell, Ont. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601) 149 herring Cove Rd. where visitation will be on Wednesday January 2nd, from 6-8 pm, with funeral service on Friday January 4th at 1p.m. from the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the James and Edna Claydon Radiation Treatment Clinic in Halifax.
