Obituary of Arthur Leo Kearns

KEARNS, Arthur Leo – 90, Halifax, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Melville Lodge, Spryfield. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late George Edwin and Margaritta (Supple) Kearns. Arthur was a partner in Citadal Office Equipment until his retirement. He enjoyed artistic painting. His wife was his best friend through 70 years together; you rarely saw one without the other.  He will be missed by those who loved him most. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (McCarthy) Kearns; daughter, Sharron (Jim) Duff; sons, Brad (Susan) and Gerald (Avril) Kearns; five grand children and seven great-grand children. He was predeceased by sister, Claire (Kearns) Houlihan; brother, George, in childhood. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to all of the staff of Melville Lodge for their understanding and caring attitude while attending to Arthur's needs. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601). In keeping with the family’s wishes there will be no visitation. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 12 at 10 AM from the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arthur’s memory may be made to Melville Lodge.
