Obituary of Jason Doherty
Jason Daniel Doherty: 38, Halifax, NS, born September 4, 1974, passed away suddenly January 23, 2013. Jason was the much cherished son of Dan (originally from Fredericton) and Linda (LeBlanc) (Fairview) Doherty. Jason graduated from Sackville High and then went on to graduate from St. Mary’s University with a degree in Archaeology. One year while attending St. Mary’s, Jason travelled to Whitehorse in the Yukon to take part in a dig. Jason went through Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts, and later served as a Cub Leader with his sister Tangee. Jason loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time canoeing, hiking and fishing, and always had a camera with him. He was always a hard worker, putting himself through university while working 3 jobs and graduated debt free. For the past 3 years, Jason managed the family store, Danielson’s Water ‘N Wine in Spryfield. He also wrote articles, handled advertising and did photography for The Chebucto News which is owned by the family and edited by his sister Tangee. Jason and his partner Katina also operated Pin and A Pick Locksmithing for the last 3 years. Jason was a very kind and gentle soul who touched everyone he met and will be sorely missed by all.
Jason is survived by his life partner of 10 years, Katina Finigan, and his loving parents, Dan and Linda. He will be deeply missed by his older sister, Tangelene Ramsay (Scott), and their children Samantha and Dylan, all of Conneticut, his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Doherty, Fredericton, NB, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins both in Halifax and New Brunswick.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 1-4 PM.
