Obituary of Olive Eva Hardiman
The family of Olive Eva Hardiman, 80, of Garnish, Fortune Bay, Newfoundland, announces her passing on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in Abbie Lane, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by the love of her husband, children and grandchildren. Born in Frenchman’s Cove, NL, she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Esther Pardy (Grandy). Olive loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed her 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Olive's life was guided by her calling to the Salvation Army and she was a member of the Armdale Corps for 47 years and the Garnish Corps for another 20 years. She was happiest when helping others and even when illness prevented her from attending events, she always sent along her much loved Heavenly Trifle. Olive is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Alpheaus, daughters Sadie, Sheila, sons Rendell, Joey, Jerry and daughter-in-law Patricia, all of Halifax-Dartmouth, son Wayne, of Ottawa, her siblings, Shirley Tapper (Gerald), Sadie Organ (Doug), Morgan Thomas Pardy (Ruth), Winnie Wells (Will), Rendell Pardy (Ruby), all of Newfoundland, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Sadie and Joyce. A special thanks to Dr. Laura Burke and the staff of 9 Lane. God Bless You All. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. There will be a celebration of Olive's life at the Salvation Army Church, Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 7:00 PM, followed by visitation with the family from 7:30- 8:30 PM. Olive will then journey to Garnish, Newfoundland for interment in the Garnish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in memory of Olive be made to the Garnish Salvation Army Cemetery Fund.
