Obituary of Florence Hampton

HAMPTON, Florence – 82 of Spryfield passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 at ArborstoneAdvanceCareCenter.She was the daughter of the late William (Bill) and Christie Hampton.Florence was a life long resident of Spryfield where she owned and operated Angela’s Beauty Salon on Herring Cove Road for over 40 years.  Over time her customers became more that just clients; they became close, endearing friends.  Her shop became more than just a business; it became a place where neighbours, sisters, friends and relatives met every week, at the same time, year after year.  Jokes and stories were told; pictures of babies, graduations and weddings proudly shown; recipes exchanged and freshly baked treats shared. Florence loved children and for years would be seen driving her car, packed full of kids, to school every morning – something she would get arrested for today.   Among those kids were her nieces and nephew, Gail (Brian Morris) Hampton, Herring Cove; Angie (Regan) Fong, Clayton Park; Nancy (Bob) Le Blanc, Sambro; and Rusty Hampton, Spryfield. Florence is also survived by brother, Pat (Minnie) Hampton, Hammonds Plains; sister-in-law, Jessie Hampton, Spryfield; nieces, Sandra Whitehead, Harrietsfield; Heather Whitehead, Spryfield; Valerie Blackmore, Fall Fiver; Beverley (Busch) Dubay, Timberlea; nephews, Stanley (Charlene)Whitehead, Halifax; David Whitehead, Harrietsfield.She especially loved, and will be greatly missed by her "little men", grand-nephews Matthew and Nicholas Leblanc, Sambro and Joey Hampton, Halifax.She was predeceased by her sister Mabel (Art) Whitehead and brother Freddie Hampton.The family would like to thank the staff on the 3rd floor of Arborstone for the friendship and smiles they gave Florence during her stay with them and for their kindness to us in the last days.  There are not enough words of praise for these wonderful women and men.There will be no visitation.  Cremation has taken place.  Memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, February 16th, at St Michael’s Church, Spryfield.  Donations in memory of Florence may be made to Bide Awhile Animal Shelter or to St Michael’s Church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of J.
