Obituary of Barbara Ruth Mott
95, went to meet her Saviour Jesus, on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Parkstone Extended Care, Halifax. Born in Hatley, Quebec she was the youngest child of the late Clarence Perley "C.P." and Edith (Little) Young.
Barbara went to MacDonald Collage of McGill University and received her Intermediate Teacher’s Diploma. For seven years she taught in a variety of schools in Quebec. Following a business course in Waterville, Quebec she went on to work for Imperial Oil in Montreal. There she met her husband, Walter, and following his discharge from the army they moved to New Brunswick. Living first in Central Cambridge, they then moved to Oromocto where they built a home and resided for many years. After suffering a stroke in 1988, Barbara and Walter moved to Halifax to be with their family. Although confined to a wheelchair, Barbara's joy in living was not diminished. Despite the use of only one hand, she hooked many rugs, most of which she gave away to friends. She was active in Bible studies, The Stroke Club, and First Congregational Church.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Mott and his wife, Ann Hoskin-Mott; two granddaughters, Katie and Sarah Mott. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; infant son, Donald; sister, Annis Bunting; brothers, Clinton and Galen Young.
In keeping with the family’s wishes there will be no visitation. A Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for the life of Barbara will be held on Wednesday, February 20th at 2 PM at First Congregational Church, 1871 Seldon Street, followed by a reception; interment to take place at a later date in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredericton, New Brunswick.
