Obituary of Daniel Patrick "Dan" Sullivan

61, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Dartmouth GeneralHospital. Born in Halifax on January 5, 1952, he was the son of the late Mervyn and Joan (Sharp) Sullivan. Dan won over the hearts of all who knew him. He was a gentle soul who taught us compassion for those who face great challenges in life. He loved all types of music and enjoyed listening to fiddle tunes with his dear friend Bonnie. He enjoyed drives to Cow Bay, the smell of the ocean and strolls in Shubie Park. He brought great joy to our family and he will live in our hearts forever. He will lovingly be remembered by sisters, Sharon Mueller (Mike), Mary Beth Sullivan Weinberger (Alan); brothers, Terry Sullivan, John (Bridget) Sullivan and Tim (Maureen) Sullivan. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Mervyn "Butch" Sullivan and sister in-law, Elizabeth Sullivan. Dan was loved and cared for, by many dedicated and exceptional Caregivers and Counselors with Regional Residential Services. Our deepest gratitude to Sharon, Rachael, Cathy, Rodney, Leo and Lindy and the many program services staff, especially the Active Lifestyles Program and the Music Appreciation Group at North Woodside School. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Dartmouth General Three East and the Emergency Room, for their kind and gentle care of our dear brother. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., Halifax. In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 27 in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 10 Maple Street, Dartmouth, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan’s memory can be made to the Regional Residential Services Society, 202 Brownlow Ave., Suite LKD1, Dartmouth, B3B 1T5.
