Obituary of Charles William "C.W." Conrod
92, Halifax, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the QEII Health Sciences Center. Born in Waverley, he was a son of the late Howard and Alice (Edmonds) Conrod.
Charles was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a veteran of the second World War, 1939-1945. He served with the RCR 1st Canadian Paratroop Battalion and HLI. Following his service he was a Bricklayer for 44 years and belonged to Local #1, retiring in 1986. He was a longtime member of the Earle Francis Spryfield Legion #152.
He is survived by three special people in his life, Shelley Dean, Rick Shunamon and Charlotte Day. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Jean (Woods); sisters, Dorothy Andrews and Margaret Power; brothers, Gerald and Howard.
A celebration of Charles’ life will be held on Friday, March 1 from 4-7 PM at the Earle Francis Spryfield Legion #152. No flowers by request, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
