Obituary of Kenneth Albert Cook

COOK, Kenneth Albert - 77, Lakeside. With profound sadness we announce his passing on April 30, 2013 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Halifax, on Sept. 7, 1935, he was a son of the late William E. and Ella Mae (Mountain) Cook. He was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 156, Lakeside and worked for DND for 30 years. Dad enjoyed his retirement travelling and camping, but his greatest love was his wife Marion, his family and gatherings where music was the central theme. Dad was a model of strength, determination and unconditional love for his family; he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marion (Fraser), Lakeside; daughters, Liz (Charlie) Scott, Shad Bay; Cathy (Greg) Smith, Amherst; Rosie (Dave) Francis, Shad Bay; sons, Kenny, Tantallon; Rick (Mary), Lakeside; and Peter (Charlene), Halifax; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Dad is also survived by brothers, Ted, John, Stephen, Tommy, Donald and sisters, Sheila and Mary. Dad was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Bill and Robert; sister, Nellie Drysdale, and several nieces and nephews. We wish to express our gratitude to the caregivers, nurses and doctors at the VG Site, QEII, 6th and 5th floors for making dad comfortable.  There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, May 14, at 11:00 a.m. in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax with Father Duncan MacMaster officiating. Cremation has taken place, and there will be a family burial later in the day.
