Obituary of Hisako Suzuki

Hisako Suzuki passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Drummond Hall, Parkland Estates, Halifax, NS. Mrs. Hisako Suzuki (Takahashi) was born February 28, 1931 in Japan. After completing her Science diploma in Food nutrition, Hisako worked as a laboratory technician in Sendai, Japan where she met and married her husband Michio. After the arrival of her first two children, she continued to work in the laboratory and published a scientific paper. Hisako moved with her husband and children to Ottawa in 1964 and then came to Prince Edward Island in 1966, where she lived for over 40 years. Hisako was a devoted wife and mother who learned to speak English fluently and enjoyed playing the stock market and tackling her husband’s complex tax returns. She shared her family’s passion for music and sang in the soprano section of the Confederation Singers and St. Paul’s Church choir, loved classic English literature, was a highly skilled seamstress and flower gardener, and an expert cook of everything from Beef Wellington, English trifle, chocolate éclairs, crepes, pies, jams, and pickles as well as traditional Japanese foods. Hisako was an avid bridge player and an enthusiastic spectator of all sports, especially hockey (Steve Yzerman and Guy Lafleur), baseball (Greg Maddux), tennis, and snooker. Hisako is survived by her children, Makiko (Paul) Chiasson, Boko Yasuhiro (Amy) Suzuki, and Kristine (Alex) Sasieta; grandchildren, Allison and Audrey Chiasson, D'ette Bourchier and Kimiko Suzuki, and Anjelica, Nicolas, and Victoria Sasieta. She is also survived by brothers, Atsushi and Ikuo Takahashi; sisters, Fuki Hino and Shuku Fushimi. She was predeceased by her parents, Torio and Kaoru Takahashi, and her husband Michio who passed away in February. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Beatrice Fudge for her compassionate care. Special thanks also to Dr. Adrienne Watson and the staff at Drummond Hall, Parkland Estates, Halifax. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held for both Hisako and Michio on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 11 AM in St. Paul's Church, Charlottetown, PEI. Donations in memory of Hisako may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Organ Fund of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Charlottetown, PEI will be appreciated. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax, NS and Belvedere Funeral Home, Charlottetown, PEI.
