His early years were spent in Cambridge Station, Kings Co, where, after serving overseas with the RCAF during WW II,  he returned and  was in business,  and active in many community activities, such as cubs and hockey, among others. In the early 1980’s he retired from Brydon’s Store and moved to Spryfield , where soon he was involved with the Legion, Earl Francis Branch; and with Calvary Baptist Church.
