Obituary of Helen Mitchell

Mitchell, Helen Mary- 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in the Halifax Infirmary,  QEII, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Newport Station Co. in 1934, daughter of the late Edwin and Muriel (Hines) Parker. She graduated from the Nova Scotia Sanatorium as a Certified Nursing Assistant, class of 1955. After this she spent most of her life serving the sick and caring for her family. One of the happiest days of her life came on June 14, 2003, when she was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness. She dedicated her life to God and to His service until her health gave way. She is survived by son, Dana Mitchell, Windsor; daughters, Sherry (Maurice) Larade and Kimberley (Mike) Bonin, both of Timberlea, step-sons, David, Windsor; Richard, British Columbia and Jimmy, Halifax; niece, Vicki (Eddie) Judge; grandchildren, Melanie & Jeffrey Riley, Kendra, Alyssa & Alex Larade, Hillary, Sydney & Michael Bonin, great grandchildren, Brianna, Dominick, Shelby, Evan, Adam and Jaydon. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, brother, Edwin Jr.; and sister, Karen; step-son Terry. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of J.A. Walker Funeral Home(2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601). A memorial service will be held at later date. Burial in St. CroixCemetery at a later date. Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Halifax West Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses (World Wide Work) or to a charity of one’s choice.
