Obituary of Robert "Bob" W. Hartlen

HARTLEN, Robert "Bob" Wentzell - 77, Halifax, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2013 at the QEII, VG Site, Halifax.  Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late George and Mabel (Evans) Hartlen. Bob was a respected and dedicated mechanic by trade for over 30 years.  He was a loving husband, father and friend.  Bob will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 51 years, Cynthia (Ballam), his children, Ronald Hartlen and Anita (Shane) Delaney; sisters, Barbara (Stanley) Gordon, and Edna Brown; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sisters, Lillian, Aileen, Shirley and Peggy; brother, Ronald.  Bob’s wife, Cynthia, and his children, wish to express a special thank you to the staff of VG Palliative care 7A for their compassionate care and support, especially nurse Cathy; also, many thanks to Dr, Chea and Sandra for their dedicated care over the years. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.  A service of remembrance will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 2 PM, with a reception to follow. Interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 2 PM. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
