Obituary of Maxine Elizabeth "Mickie" Al-Molky

passed away with dignity with her husband and daughter by her side, on August 26, 2013 at the VG Site ICU.  Born August 24, 1948 in Windsor, she was the daughter of Mrs. Inez (Hood) and the late C. Eugene Hunter. Mickie graduated from nursing at the Children’s Hospital in Halifax and went on to work there for almost forty years.  She was honored to care for many patients and their families on the Haematology/Oncology Service and was beloved by them in return.  During this time she received The Margaret Ross Award, the highest nursing honor at the IWK.  After retiring, Mickie continued working with APPHON and the Levels of Care Coordination Team. She was an avid reader, sudoku solver and scrabble player. She enjoyed her vacation time at The Lake with family and sometimes even alone.  An enthusiastic fan of Celtic Thunder she owned every CD and DVD and attended every concert she could. Technology was no match for Mickie at work or home, providing a creative outlet with her cards and newsletters.  Later on in dealing with her illness, her Kobo and tablet allowed her to continue with her reading, puzzles and Facebook.  She will always be remembered for founding the Hunter Cousin Weekends. Mickie is survived by her husband Mike, daughter Leslie Robertson (Terry)and; her greatest joys: grandson Jesse; granddaughters Katelyn (Cody) and Isabel; and great grandson Xander. Brothers, Rod (Julie) and Glynn; sister, Jeane (Raymond) Harvey; special sister Elizabeth Ann (Mark) Pulsifer; cousin/best friend Debbie (Carl) Siler and brother in law Peter; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601). Rev. Bill Gibson will officiate at a memorial service, in celebration of Mickie’s life, at the Windsor United Church on King Street, Thursday, September 5, at 2:00pm. A reception will follow in the church annex.  Private family interment at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Notification to PO Box 3461, Windsor, NS  B0N 2T0. Mickie received devoted care by her husband and daughter allowing her to be at home. Special thanks to Dr. Rowicka, the Northwood team and the VON.
