Obituary of Norman John Carmichael

Age 94, Eastern Passage, passed away October 8, 2013 in the Oceanview Continuing Care Centre.Born in St. Ann’s, May 26 1919 to the late Hector and Katie(Mac Askill) Carmichael. Norman spent five years in the Royal Canadian Navy serving on Corvettes, then on the first tribal class destroyers, HMCS Iroquois. After the war, he sailed the Great Lakes, then returned to Halifax, where he workded at the Moir’s Chocolate Factory until its closure. Norman also worked as a commissionaire at Citadel Hill. Survived by loving partner, Pearl Briand; brother, Angus John(A.J),Goose Cove; sister, Anna Mac Innis, Breton Cove; 11 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife Elsie, brother,  Claude and sister, Mayme (Eckhardt).Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601).
