Obituary of Claire Mary Shay

SHAY, Claire Mary – 51, Bedford, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the VG Site, QEII. Born in Tignish, PEI, she was the daughter of Meddie, Tignish PEI, and Emily (Perry) Doucette, Halifax. Claire loved life. She enjoyed bowling, darts and chatting with good friends. She worked in the hotel industry all of her life. Special thanks to the Westin, Prince George and Atlantica Hotels. Aside from her parents, she is survived by her husband of 29 years, Donald; sons, Brian (Anne) and Michael (Chelsea); sisters, Darlene (Jim) MacDonald, Richmond Hill, ON; Donna (Norman) Woodside, O’Leary, PEI; Tracy (Arthur) Francis, Halifax; 8 nieces and nephews; 1 great-niece and 1 great-nephew. Special thanks to Dr. Bruce Colwell and his nurse Jill as well as to Dr. Horton and Barb Stewart for their compassionate care and support. Arrangements are under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will take place on Monday, November 25 from 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26 at 11AM in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Father Mark Cherry as Celebrant. Interment will take place in St, John's Cemetery. Reception will be held at the Purcells Cove Club following the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations in Claire’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
