Obituary of Allen "Al" "Dover" Zinck

ZINCK, Allen Joseph "Al" "Dover": 62, Hammonds Plains, formerly of Halifax, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.  Throughout his life, Al had been employed with National Sea Products, Fundy Gypsum, and had done construction.  He always enjoyed being with his family and friends, and especially enjoyed sharing a good cup of coffee with friends at his favorite coffee shop.    Allen is survived by his wife of 38 years, Doreen (Morash), sons, Brian (Erin) Zinck and Curtis (Pamela) Morash, granddaughter, Alyssa Morash, sister, Sharon Murphy, several brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.  He was predeceased by his mother, Ruby Zinck.   Al’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of 7A Palliative Care for the care given to him during his stay at hospital, and to Glenna, palliative care nurse for her dedication while caring for Al at home.  A very special thanks to Dr. Harris Crooks for his compassion, and to Continuing Home Care, VON and Northwood and all of their staff who helped Al and Doreen during Al’s illness.  Thanks as well to all Al’s family and friends, especially his extended family at Woodlyn Manor, for the care and support throughout his battle.   By request, cremation has taken place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where a service in memory of Al will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:30 AM in the funeral home chapel.  A reception will follow at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Cancer Society, or the local Hospice.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting www.walkerfh.com
