Obituary of Valerie Nickerson

NICKERSON (Harris), Valerie Lee:  60, Halifax, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in the Palliative Care Unit on February 5th, 2014.  Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Norma (MacDonald) Saunders and Raymond (Nancy) Harris, BC.   Valerie loved spending time in her garden, cooking big family meals, baking and decorating cakes, but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by family, friends and all who knew her.  Valerie will be greatly missed by her husband, Wayne, sons, Kenny McFarlane (Janice), St. Margaret's Bay, Robert Nickerson (Birgit), Halifax, and daughter, Terri (Craig) Parker, Halifax, as well as her grandchildren, Ashlee, Molly, Megan, Peyton, Jordyn, Jake, Rebecca, Natalee and Riley. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the QEII and VG Palliative Care Unit for all of their help and support during her time there.     Cremation has taken place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where a service in memory of Valerie will be held Monday, February 10th, 2014 at 1pm from the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Jeannie Manning Stright officiating.
