Obituary of Eloise Gerndilene Ruth Leary (Myra)

Halifax passed away March 15, 2014.  Born in Lunenburg November 21, 1924, she attended LunenburgAcademy, was a beautician at Bernard’s, AbbyLaneHospital, Mills Bros, and the School for the Blind.  She is predeceased by parents Mildred E. (Hamm) and Capt Paul L. Myra, brother Robert Earl Grant Myra, husband CPO 1 Joseph Ernest Leary.  As a little girl Eloise sailed from Lunenburg to Halifax on the Bluenose I with Capt Angus Walters and her father, who rigged the iconic schooner.  Running into rough weather, Capt Myra put Eloise in a chair and strapped her to the mast to keep her safe.  Survived by son James Robert (SurreyBC), daughter Juliana (Calgary), and friend Michelle Forrest (TerenceBay), Eloise will be remembered for her good humor, kindness, and love of a good storm.  Thanks to 8-Centre Northwood, especially Jenny and Catherine, and to all who kept Eloise close in thought and prayer.  Funeral service at LutheranChurch of the Resurrection, 2096 Windsor St, 10 am Friday March 21.  Burial in Lunenburg at a later date.  Donations may be made to LutheranChurch of the Resurrection or a charity of choice.
