Obituary of Allen "Al" Francis Bryden
Al passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife, Kay, by his side. Born at his family home on Herring Cove Road, he was the 4th of 6 sons born to the late George and Gladys (Hawbolt) Bryden. Allen will be fondly remembered and greatly missed as a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a solid and loyal friend to many. His numerous jobs over the years are a testament to Al’s work ethic and his commitment to raising his family and providing a loving and nurturing home life for Kay and their children. Al was a driver for Ben’s Bakery; firearms inspector for Nova Scotia; a professional photographer for the Chronicle Herald and owner of many businesses including: Baby Charm Studio, Passport Photo of Atlantic Protection Services Ltd., Hook and Ladder Club, Spryfield, The Sound Shack Record Store and Captain Spry B & B. Al always looked forward to his many hunting and fishing trips in NS and Newfoundland, loving and respecting the great outdoors. He loved working in his backyard garage. Al and Kay’s doors were always open to their many friends, and Al enjoyed the "drop in" nature of the family home with love and laughter.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Catherine "Kay"; son, Kevin (Kathy), Bridgewater; daughters, Kathy (Paul), PEI, Kelly (Sue), Halifax and Lynn (Tim), PEI; grandchildren, Cory, Chris, Grant, Sydney, Jake, Meaghan and Rachael; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Carter.
