Obituary of Donald Paul Blackburn
64, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at home. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Hollis and Nina (Hennigar) Blackburn.
Donald retired after 49 years working at the Halifax Shipyard as a stager. He loved old cars, watching wrestling and playing cards, specifically crib. Accompanying his best pal, Maggie, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his best friend since childhood Myles Jarvis.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Mitchell); sons, Gene and Keith and their families; twin sister, Donna, and sisters, Linda (Barry), Claire (Steve) and families; brother in-law, Bill White He was predeceased by sister, Betty White.
Cremation has taken place under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will take place on Monday, April 14 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, April 15 at 2 PM from the funeral home chapel, The Rev. Carson Baxter officiating, followed by a reception.
